Creativity and artistry aren’t words one would normally use to describe teaching kids to read. Lorie of Reading Confetti raises the level of teaching reading to a fine art. Lorie is a reading specialist turned stay-at-home-mom and when you see the fun projects she does with her kids, you’ll want to play along!
I invited Lorie to tell us about her creative play. Here is her story:
“Hi there! My name is Lorie and I blog over at Reading Confetti. I’m the mom of two cute (and very busy) toddlers! I taught reading for 10 years and as a reading specialist, I have a passion for getting young minds primed for the exciting world of reading! Most of my posts focus on making reading fun by connecting books to crafts, activities, games, and snacks.
Here are just a few of the things we’ve been up to….

For this movement activity, we were inspired by Dr. Seuss’ The Foot Book. We traced our footprints onto paper and then used them to jump from one end of the room to the other:
