I call these beads peripheral because they are made from leftover clay that’s been treated in some way, so it can’t just be tossed in with the untreated clays. That’s not to say that it couldn’t be used with other clays, but if you need a specific color, you don’t want to reach for this thinking that it’s the color you’re looking for. These clay had crafting foils applied to their surfaces. So, I make little moons and stars with these bits!

The original project was tiled frame. The polymer clays I used were purple and green, |

The iridescent crafting foil was burnished onto the clay. The tiles were cut with a small square cookie cutter. |

I cut several round cuts, put the pieces back to back and blended the edges. Then I made holes with a needle tool. These little round guys reminded me of full moons, so I dug out my tiny crescent moon cutters and cut four pieces to put back to back. Then I dug out my 1/4″ star cutter — that used up almost all the rest of the leftover clay! |
