Pulp Fiction – Perfect Paper Projects by Mark Montano. This groundbreaking book by Mark Montano will have you giddy with excitment. A fresh new look and designs for multimedia artist. Design Originals and Mark Montano have teamed up to bring you imaginative projects to spark your imagination and creativity.

A note from Mark:Mark Montano copy1 Giveaway Alert! Pulp Fiction by Mark Montano

Paper is my passion… my favorite medium. It is abundant, cheap, and there is so much you can do with it! Who would have thought that you could turn a pile of old magazine pages into earrings worthy of a New York modeling runway? I’ll show you how to make jewelry that you’ll be proud to wear and home decor that sparkles with personality. Together, we will make gifts worth giving.

I reveal secrets that professional designers use to create stunning results. I want you to have the confidence to present items that grab attention. When someone notices the glitter magnet on your fridge and asks, “Where did you find that?”, you’ll respond with pride- “I made it.” You know how I love anything recycled. I’ll show you how to breathe new life into a battered briefcase, rescue a beleaguered table, turn a boring mirror into a spectacular room accent and create interesting objects for home decor. Let’s create something wonderful together and spare the planet at the same time.

These projects offer inventive possibilities to custom fit your personal taste and I didn’t leave out the fun. Imagine yourself celebrating Mardi Gras or welcoming the New Year wearing a fabulous feathered mask worthy of a Las Vegas show. All your friends will want one. Unleash your creativity with the kids.  Experiment with unique puzzles, cards, notebooks, and envelope sets. Turn old Christmas card boxes into dimensional greetings. I know you can do this. You can’t mess it up – it’s only paper and glue, a little paint, and a whole lot of imagination. Enjoy the process and let me know how it turns out. I’m available at markmontanonyc@aol.com and I love hearing about your crafting adventures.

Gratitude Spiral Polymer Clay Cane by Candace Jedrowicz

Gratitude Spiral Polymer Clay Cane by Candace Jedrowicz - Hero Shot

As Featured on Inspired at Home LIVE TV – Candace Jedrowicz captures the symbol of gratitude in polymer clay

Gratitude is an amazing healing force. When you feel emotional turmoil, gratitude will bring your focus back to a place of balance. A loving soul sent me an email about an online gratitude organization called gogratitude.com. What a fabulous healing experience it was to participate in the daily gratitude exercises!  The symbol they use to represent gratitude occurs everywhere in nature and I had used it over and over in my artwork for years.  The spiral – as simple as it is elegant.

Caning is an old candy maker’s trick.  Multiple colors of clay are shaped and wrapped into a roll so that every slice has the same image.

Here’s an easy project that I’ve used to keep me mindful of my work in gratitude.  You’ll need:

Gratitude Spiral Polymer Clay Cane by Candace Jedrowicz 1 300x249 Gratitude Spiral Polymer Clay Cane by Candace Jedrowicz Any two colors of polymer clay

A tissue blade

A pasta machine or rolling pin

Fine glitter

Crafting foil (optional)

Needle tool

An attitude of gratitude

Gratitude Spiral Polymer Clay Cane by Candace Jedrowicz 2 273x300 Gratitude Spiral Polymer Clay Cane by Candace Jedrowicz Begin by conditioning both clay colors.  It’s a good practice to condition the lightest clay first.  After the clay is soft, begin conditioning small amounts of fine glitter into the clay.  It’s much less messy to use a little at a time than try to do it all at once.
Gratitude Spiral Polymer Clay Cane by Candace Jedrowicz 3 300x176 Gratitude Spiral Polymer Clay Cane by Candace Jedrowicz I used purple for the spiral and white for the surrounding color.  Roll twice as much surrounding color as spiral color and roll the spiral clay twice as thin as the surrounding clay. Trim the pieces with the tissue blade.
Gratitude Spiral Polymer Clay Cane by Candace Jedrowicz 4 300x116 Gratitude Spiral Polymer Clay Cane by Candace Jedrowicz Flip the clays over and begin making a tight roll starting at the end with the spiral clay.
Gratitude Spiral Polymer Clay Cane by Candace Jedrowicz 5 300x206 Gratitude Spiral Polymer Clay Cane by Candace Jedrowicz Continue rolling until it’s as narrow as you want it.  Slice off the ends to reveal your spiral. Roll another bit of your spiral color. It should be enough to go all the way around the roll.
Gratitude Spiral Polymer Clay Cane by Candace Jedrowicz 6 300x227 Gratitude Spiral Polymer Clay Cane by Candace Jedrowicz I love these crafting foils!  If you want to use them, burnish a piece of the foil onto the piece of clay that will go on the outside of the roll.  Follow the directions on the foil box. If you don’t have the foil or don’t want to use it, just wrap the roll in the thin piece of clay you just made.
Gratitude Spiral Polymer Clay Cane by Candace Jedrowicz 7 300x227 Gratitude Spiral Polymer Clay Cane by Candace Jedrowicz The foil gets burnished right on the clay with the color side showing.  I don’t always get full coverage, but I like the way that looks.  Experiment with it until you get the look you want.
Gratitude Spiral Polymer Clay Cane by Candace Jedrowicz 8 300x204 Gratitude Spiral Polymer Clay Cane by Candace Jedrowicz To make beads, slice the cane with the tissue blade and make holes with a needle tool.  I slice my beads about 3/8″ thick.  You can slice it thinner to make buttons or paper craft embellishments. Bake the clay according to package directions.
Gratitude Spiral Polymer Clay Cane by Candace Jedrowicz 9 300x252 Gratitude Spiral Polymer Clay Cane by Candace Jedrowicz After baking I sometimes add a layer of Mod Podge Dimensional Magic to add gloss and make the glitter pop.

I hope you try this project, or any project at all that helps keep you focused with an attitude of gratitude.  I promise, you’ll love the results!
