Cupcake Die Wedding Dress by Eileen Hull

Eileen Hull Cupcake Die Wedding Dress - Hero

Eileen Hull Cupcake Die Wedding Dress Hero Cupcake Die Wedding Dress by Eileen Hull

This is the time of year for weddings and showers and if you are looking for a unique idea for a bridal shower gift – this is it! It was the clever imagination of Eileen Hull who transformed her cupcake die shape into this adorable wedding dress. Featured in Cool2Craft FaveCrafts newsletter.

To make the dress, you will need:

Eileen Hull Cupcake Die Wedding Dress 3 300x226 Cupcake Die Wedding Dress by Eileen Hull

Die-cut Cupcake Holder from mat board.

  1. Place die-cut cupcake holder in Textured Impressions folder and run through Big Shot.
  2. Cut bodice from two segments of the cupcake, top skirt from three segments and bottom skirt from three segments as seen in photo. (You may have to trim a little bit from both sides of the skirt so everything lines up right.)
  3. Place a little double-sided tape in between bodice and top skirt. Add vintage lace to hem of skirt and a sash around the waist. Layer underskirt below top skirt and secure with more tape. Add a small paper rose to the side of the lace belt.
  4. That’s all there is to it!

The frame had been purchased recently at a discount store, but I already knew I was going to paint it. It was too dark, and the embossed areas didn’t stand out enough. I took some cream paint and dry brushed all around the frame and embossed mat. In one of my thrift shop adventures a while ago, I had found a cool old book titled “Vogue’s Book of Etiquette” from 1948, which goes into some detail on any possible event and how to dress for it. I tore out an appropriate page and placed that behind the dress. Then I matted the dress on a piece of mat board for contrast, added some foamboard on the back to give it dimension and adhered that to the backing. I layered everything in the frame, and it’s ready for the shower!

A Tiskit, a Tasket, a cute little Easter Basket! by Eileen Hull

Tisket Tasket Basket by Eileen Hull - Hero

Eileen Tiskit Tasket Basket 1 A Tiskit, a Tasket, a cute little Easter Basket! by Eileen Hull

Featuring Eileen Hull’s ScoreBoards Scallop Box Die, this peat pot Easter Basket features the bright and fresh colors of spring.  Embellished with flat back pearls and rhinestones, it’s a perfect little project to use your matboard scraps. Featured in Cool2Craft FaveCrafts newsletter.

You will need:

Instructions:

  1. Cut peat pot from group (mine came in a block of 6, all attached).
  2. Dry brush paint lightly over peat pot. I used aqua satin finish that I had out after painting my bathroom.
  3. Die-cut small flowers from mat board in different colors (use scraps) and glue to base.
  4. Add rhinestones and pearls to flower centers.
  5. Punch two small holes in either side of basket and thread wire through. With round pliers, twirl ends into curly shape.
  6. Add ribbon and peanut M&M’s.

This handy dandy little matboard box may be used for so many things! Test out your doodling skills. Draw your favorite flower and then have fun coloring it in. Created by Eileen Hull. Featured in the Cool2Craft FaveCrafts newsletter.

Sizzix Products:
• Big Shot Machine
• ScoreBoards XL Die – Box w/Flap
• Little Sizzles Mat Board, White, 6″ x 13″
Other products:
• Papers by Scrappy Cat (Darice)
• Copic markers
• Magnets (BasicGrey)
• Brads
• Double-sided tape
• Stamp ink – turquoise, aqua
• Sponge
• Glue pen
• Fine yellow glitter

Eileen Hull 3 A Breath of Spring Box by Eileen Hull1. Cut box from white matboard using Big Shot machine and Box w/Flap ScoreBoard die. This box may be used to hold ATC’s, playing cards, crayons, gift cards and tons of other small items.

2. Sketch out lightly in pencil a basic outline of a flower and leaves. Go over the lines with a fine-tip permanent marker. Draw the central image and then add in leaves and smaller flowers. The flap will cover a good part of the flower, so match the design on the flap to the box. Mine is not perfect, but it works!

3. Erase pencil lines and color in the flowers and leaves with Copic markers in shades of greens and yellows. (You could also stamp a flower image with Staz-On or Memento inks pads and color).

4. Line the box with paper. You will need to trim a tiny bit at each fold because the paper will buckle and shift, especially if you are using cardstock. There’s too much bulk there for everything to lay flat. Cut off enough paper so that when you glue it back on, there is a little bit of white showing between sections.

5. But BEFORE you put the paper on, adhere the magnet to the box flap. Apply double-sided tape to the wrong side of the flap magnet and to the right side of the other magnet. This will go inside the box and line up with the flap magnet. Adjust the positioning of the magnets until the box closes neatly. Now tape or glue the paper on the box flap.

6. After outlining, coloring and blending the flowers and leaves, add a background. Lightly tap on dye-based inks with a sponge and softly color in the background.

7. To assemble the box, add doubled-sided tape down the sides of the flap and two brads for decoration.

8. Thought I was done but could not resist adding a line of fine glitter around the edges of the petals just for a little sparkle.

Eileen Hull 2 300x258 A Breath of Spring Box by Eileen Hull
I’m not sure yet what I will put in this box, but just looking at it reminds me that spring and the new life it brings is just around the corner!
