EcoHeidi Borchers uses a favorite Aleene’s vintage technique to create a beautiful detailed design on a fish magnet. With Aleene’s Tacky Glue you can create the look of embossing to create the coolest designs. Featured on Cool2Craft TV.

Materials:
Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue
Aleene’s Magnetic Tacky Tape or Aleene’s Magnetic Tacky Dots
Aleene’s Spray Acrylic Sealer (gloss or matte)
Cardboard (I used cereal box cardboard)
Pencil
Fish pattern
Scissors
Spray paint – flat white
Alcohol inks
Small paint brush

 Heidi Fish Magnet 1 Look of Embossing Fish Magnet by EcoHeidi Borchers Transfer fish pattern to cardboard. Cut out along pattern line.
 Heidi Fish Magnet 2 Look of Embossing Fish Magnet by EcoHeidi Borchers I like to use a tape tip in order to create a narrow line of glue. Click for tutorial. Draw along the entire outside of fish and on inside pattern lines with Aleene’s Tacky Glue.
 Heidi Fish Magnet 3 Look of Embossing Fish Magnet by EcoHeidi Borchers Let glue lines dry until completely clear.
 Heidi Fish Magnet 4 Look of Embossing Fish Magnet by EcoHeidi Borchers Spray paint front of fish. Let dry. Spray paint back of fish. Let dry.
 Heidi Fish Magnet 5 Look of Embossing Fish Magnet by EcoHeidi Borchers Apply drops of alcohol ink over painted surface.
Heidi Fish Magnet 6 Look of Embossing Fish Magnet by EcoHeidi Borchers Use brush to dab and blend ink. Let dry. If desired, spray with acrylic sealer. Cut and apply a piece of Aleene’s Magnetic Tacky Tape to the back of magnet.

In celebration of the Cool2Craft Polka Dots show theme, Tiffany Windsor is going polka dottie with magnets and a gift box. The bird magnets are created with a glue resist technique and acrylic paint on watercolor paper and the wood box is dotted with Aleene’s Tacky Dot Singles and craft foil. Featured on Cool2Craft TV.

Materials:
Aleene’s Magnetic Tacky Dots
Aleene’s Clear Gel Tacky Glue
Aleene’s Tacky Dot Singles
Watercolor paper
Pencil with eraser
Acrylic paint (colors of your choice)
Cosmetic sponge (one for each color of paint
Bird and wing pattern of your choice
Sewing machine and thread or fine-line permanent marking pen
Wood box – shape and size of your choice
Craft foil – color(s) of your choice

Bird Magnets 1 Copy Polka Dot Bird Magnets and Gift Box by Tiffany Windsor To create custom paper design, place a small puddle of Aleene’s Clear Gel Tacky Glue onto wax paper.
Bird Magnets 2 Copy Polka Dot Bird Magnets and Gift Box by Tiffany Windsor Dip eraser into glue and press onto paper. Repeat to create polka dot pattern on paper. Be sure to work quickly so that glue does not dry on paper.
Bird Magnets 3 Copy Polka Dot Bird Magnets and Gift Box by Tiffany Windsor Using an up and down pouncing motion, apply first color of paint in striped pattern over wet glue.
Bird Magnets 4 Copy Polka Dot Bird Magnets and Gift Box by Tiffany Windsor Repeat to create stripes of acrylic paint.
Bird Magnets 5 Copy Polka Dot Bird Magnets and Gift Box by Tiffany Windsor Immediately dab over wet glue with wet wipes to remove the glue and paint to reveal the white polka dot. Repeat to uncover all white dots. Let paper dry.
Bird Magnets 6 Copy Polka Dot Bird Magnets and Gift Box by Tiffany Windsor Trace bird and wings pattern to back of paper and cut along pattern lines.
Bird Magnets 7 Copy Polka Dot Bird Magnets and Gift Box by Tiffany Windsor There are several choices to finish your bird designs – on one example, I stitched along the edge of the bird and wings with ivory colored thread. On another example, I used a fine permanent marker to draw stitching and dots along the edges. Glue wings in place on birds.
Bird Magnets 8 Copy Polka Dot Bird Magnets and Gift Box by Tiffany Windsor Remove backing paper from Aleene’s Magnetic Tacky Dots and place magnets on back.
Bird Magnets 9 Copy Polka Dot Bird Magnets and Gift Box by Tiffany Windsor To create matching gift box, paint box inside and out. Let paint dry. Apply Aleene’s Tacky Dot Singles to outside of box.
Bird Magnets 10 Copy Polka Dot Bird Magnets and Gift Box by Tiffany Windsor Press craft foil over Tacky Dot Singles.
Bird Magnets 11 Copy Polka Dot Bird Magnets and Gift Box by Tiffany Windsor Lift to reveal foiled polka dots.
Bird Magnets 12 Polka Dot Bird Magnets and Gift Box by Tiffany Windsor Place bird magnets inside box and your gift is ready to wrap!

Materials

Aleene’s Tacky Sticker Sheets
Drawing or doodle of your choice (or any diecut shapes or any paper shapes of your choice)
Scissors

Sticker 1 Make Your Own Stickers with Aleenes Tacky Sticker Sheets by EcoHeidi Borchers I drew my images on plain white paper and then copied them on my inkjet printer. When using an inkjet printer, you will want to then spray them with Aleene’s Spray Acrylic Matte Sealer to seal in the ink. Next I cut out my designs.
Sticker 2 Make Your Own Stickers with Aleenes Tacky Sticker Sheets by EcoHeidi Borchers Partially peel back the liner from the Aleene’s Tacky Sticker Sheet and place your paper shape into adhesive. I have found that it is best to just peel back the liner enough to reveal the glue area you will use because you will want to place the liner back down to preserve the rest of the adhesive when you are finished with this step.
Sticker 3 Make Your Own Stickers with Aleenes Tacky Sticker Sheets by EcoHeidi Borchers Peel back your paper design. The adhesive is now stuck to the back of the paper. There is no cutting needed in this step!
Sticker 4 Make Your Own Stickers with Aleenes Tacky Sticker Sheets by EcoHeidi Borchers Stick the sticker on the surface of your choice! It’s easy!
Sticker 5 Make Your Own Stickers with Aleenes Tacky Sticker Sheets by EcoHeidi Borchers I also love turning my drawings into refrigerator magnets with the Aleene’s Magnetic Tacky Dots. I just glue my sticker to a piece of cardboard or matboard, cut it out and apply a Magnetic Dot to the back.
